Private Residence Lexington, Kentucky

John designed this 2,500 square foot house in Lexington, Kentucky for his brother shortly after graduation from architecture school. The goal was to design a house which would fit comfortably into a suburban neighborhood while reaching beyond the typical standards and aesthetic values of suburbia. In scale and placement, the home is very much like its neighbors. In massing and materials, it strives to link itself to the land on which it is built. The use of river stone and stained wood siding help ground the design and have permitted it to meld with its maturing landscape as time has passed.
