Home Makeover PH II

The program for phase two of the Wellesley house renovation includes the living room, staircase, mezzanine, kid’s bathroom, and master suite. One of the unique features of the design is a back-lit reclaimed wood wall element in the master bedroom. The client wanted to have large windows at the shower in the master bath but wanted the option of views or privacy at various times. “Smart Tint” was installed on the glass, a technology that offers the ability to change the glass from transparent to translucent by the use of a remote control. There was also the desire for a curb-less shower, but the existing framing did not have the depth necessary to slope to the drain. The solution was to raise the shower & tub area on a sculptural curved plinth. This ties the design of the bathroom to the kitchen done in phase one.
